ABOUT The GYROTONIC® Method
The Gyrotonic method is an original and unique movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength.
Gyrotonic exercise sequences are composed of spiraling, circular movements which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions with corresponding breath patterns. Each movement flows into the next allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility.
Gyrotonic classes are adapted to fit ANYONE’S ability from those recovering from injury or living with a disability to elite athletes.
ABOUT The GYROKINESIS® Method
The Gyrokinesis Method is a movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It is an original and unique method which coordinates movement, breath and mental focus. Gyrokinesis sessions use only a stool and a yoga mat.
Gyrokinesis classes are adapted to fit each student’s needs and abilities from those recovering from injury or living with a disability to elite athletes.

About Alex…..
Alex began dancing at the age of five in Sydney, Australia before later training at Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy. At 15, Alex moved to Melbourne to commence full time studies at the Australian Ballet School.
Towards the end of her fulltime training, Alex successfully gained a finishing year position at the Nationale Balletacademie in Amsterdam, Holland.
During this time Alex was fortunate to work with Het Nationale (Dutch National Ballet Company) in the companies productions of Swan Lake. Several months later Alex relocated to London, UK and was successful in receiving a short term contract with English National Ballet. Following this, Alex moved to Lisbon, Portugal where she remained as a corps de ballet member with the Companhia Nacional de Bailado for several years.
It was during this time in the company that Alex sustained a hip injury and discovered the Gyrotonic method. Alex began lessons in Lisbon and soon saw how beneficial it was to her dancing and her hip rehabilitation.
Alex has performed in a number of productions including Cinderella, Swan Lake, Firebird, Orfeu E Euridice, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Serenade, Hans Van Manen’s ‘5 Tangoes’ , Giselle, Carmen, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and 'Faust' by Opera Australia.
Since retiring, Alex now enjoys being a freelance ballet teacher whilst continuing to work as dedicated Gyrotonic teacher.

“The Gyrotonic Method completely transformed my classical ballet technique and understanding of how movements work. After just one lesson with Miss Alex things started to click. I finally understood what my body was supposed to be doing and this was reflected in my ballet classes. Complicated movements began to make sense. I learnt so much about my body, ballet and myself in such a short amount of time. Miss Alex is so encouraging and has a wealth of knowledge. She is an absolute gift. I walked out of every single lesson feeling elongated, enlightened and excited for more.’’
Samantha-Lee Cessario, Dancer, Medical Technician Officer - NSW
‘‘ Both children entered into Gyrotonic with the intention of further developing their classical ballet skills and techniques and came out with that and so much more. Gyrotonic is such a diverse and unique form of movement and that coupled with Alex’s wealth of knowledge, care for her students and attention to details meant that at the end of each lesson they both felt totally in touch with their bodies and how their bodies functioned on an individual basis. They were able to apply this not only in their ballet lessons but in everyday life.
Alex also broke through the mental barriers that came with ballet, training them in new ways they could make their bodies achieve ballet steps that previously they had look at as impassable hurdles.
We can’t recommend Alex more highly, she opened up a whole new level of understanding and movement and they are so grateful for her coaching’’
